Day 6: The God of Hope

Scripture“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing.” Romans 15:13

Reflection: God is not only the giver of hope. He is the source of it. True hope cannot be found anywhere else.

Romans 15:13 and Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand,” tells us that true hope is found in God alone, it also tells us that true joy and peace overflow when we choose to trust and believe. Not a little joy. Not temporary peace. But a deep, abiding fullness that comes from the Holy Spirit. This is where we can find rest.

Often, we need to come to the end of ourselves before we fully know God and trust God. In those moments of surrender, we discover that God is not only powerful but loving. He is present. He is enough. 

The world, the enemy, wants us to be so focused on ourselves that we lose sight of the realities of heaven, who God is, and what he has done for us. The more we focus on self, the more discontent in life we become, and the more anxious we become. When we choose to focus on Jesus, we find hope, peace, joy, and true love. 

As this year begins, hope invites you to release control and trust God more deeply than before.

God of hope, fill me with Your joy and peace as I trust in You. Help me release control and rest in Your faithfulness. Amen.
