Day 4: Hope in the Hard Places
Scripture: “The moment you began praying, a command was given… for you are very precious to God.” Daniel 9:23
Reflection: Hope is often hardest to hold in the places where we want answers the most. Waiting can feel painful. Prayers can feel unanswered. We long to see change, healing, or resolution.
Yet Scripture reminds us that God is never inactive. John 5:17 “ But Jesus replied, My Father is always working, and so am I.” The moment prayer begins, God is already at work. Even when we cannot see progress, He is moving with purpose.
Walking out hope does not mean pretending everything is fine. It means trusting that God is present and faithful even when the outcome is unknown. It means believing that He does not stop working simply because we cannot see results. Prov 3:5-6 is where the rubber meets the road: “ Trust in the Lord will ALL your heart; DO NOT Depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in ALL you do, and he Will show you which path to take.” All we have is our own understanding, and he is asking us to step out of that, to trust Him fully and depend on him. His ways are higher than our ways, his thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9) He can do immeasurably more than we can ask or IMAGINE. (Eph 3:20 NIV Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us) We can’t even imagine what our Lord will do!
Again, this comes down to trusting Him. This is where we can truly find Hope.
Hope grows strongest in the hardest places. It is often there that we come to know God more deeply, not just for what He does, but for who He is.

What makes hope difficult in this season?
How might God be working even now?
Prayer Lord, help me to trust You in the waiting. When I cannot see what You are doing, remind me that You are near and that I am precious to You. Amen.
